There is evidence of cross gender behavior from depictions in art between 7000 and 1700 BC, cross dressing priests in ancient Greece, and Pagan celebrations around the beginning of the 10th century involving cross dressing. We will review examples of cross gender behaviors and discuss the rapid advance of the LGBT community in the last 40 years.

She transitioned in the early 1990s and was involved in leadership of the national Transgender community from 1993 to 1997. she has spoken to thousands of students about transgender issues, offered workshops on Alternative spirituality, Gender and Spirituality, and Diversity at gender conferences, The National Women’s Music Festival and other venues. She presented a 2 hour workshop on Diversity in the Transgender Population to the National conference of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Trainers (AASECT) in 1996. and she was the lead trainer in 1996 for the team that trained the PFLAG  regional directors in their move to become supportive of the transgender community.
