Hendricks County Pride Picnic

Ichalkaranji June is Pride month, and the church is supporting the Hendricks County Pride Picnic on Sunday June 26 with a $400 donation. Because we are considered a Pride Picnic Supporter, our logo will be on the back of the Pride Picnic T-Shirt, we will have a prominent 2-page spread in the Picnic Booklet (which Pride is encouraging people to keep as a resource for LGBTQIA supportive businesses and organizations), and our logo will be on the picnic banner. We are also sponsoring a Talk Tent for conversations about LGBT ideas, issues, and information, and in the recreation area we will plan to have a church sponsored Volleyball Court.

And here is the really fun part! We will have hordes (well, maybe that has the wrong connotation), lets try again: we will have multitudes of happy LGBT folks and their families coming to our tents wanting to know about Unitarian Universalism and about the UU Community Church! Last year we had 3 lines of people wanting to talk to us waiting to talk to us for at least an hour. It slacked off, but we still had two lines much of the rest of the time. At other fairs, we spend the majority of our time trying to get people to stop and talk with us.

Some come out and help the church! This is certainly the best and largest opportunity we will have to personally invite people to visit our church that we will have this year. You don’t need to know anything about LGBT issues – we will have information sheets for you to pass our telling about Unitarian Universalism’s years of supporting the LGBT community. Mostly they will want to know about Unitarian Universalism and our church. So please, sign up to help. Anne Johnson will pass a signup sheet at church the next couple of weeks and create a signup on our Facebook page. Please come help our church grow.
