Youth RE

Middle School/High School Class
(7th-12th grade)

Our youth also begin the service upstairs, with family and friends. They can often be found in front of the church leading the service, performing music, or leading the Message for All Ages. They are a vital part of our congregation, as they learn what it is like to become a member of a church community. Youth may sign the book to become an official member at age 14.

Our MS/HS class has a dedicated teaching team of 3 mentors that lead the youth through discussions based on interest (atheism vs. agnosticism, body image, bullying, UU principles, pop culture, for example)along with our churchwide monthly themes. Our teachers for the 2014-2015 school year are (from left to right) Erin Kimble, Annie Johnson, and Lynn Jettpace.

The Mid-America Region and Heartland District of the UUA host a variety of opportunities for both junior high and senior high students to attend events with their peers.

*Note: About once per month, children from Spirit Play, Elementary, and Middle School/High School classes will come together for an inter-classroom day of learning and fun! Also, 3-5 times a year, UUCC will have an intergenerational service, where all are encouraged to stay upstairs because the message is engaging for all.
