Job Description for Part-Time Coordinator of Religious Exploration

In conjunction with the Religious Exploration Committee (REC), the CRE will work an average of 15 hours/wk to oversee our RE program, serving children ages 0-18.

They will:
  1. Help plan and implement Sunday morning programming that promotes our mission.
  2. Help recruit, train, and schedule volunteers.
  3. Supervise and support paid nursery staff.
  4. Be at church most Sunday mornings.
  5. Work with minister to integrate children in worship.
  6. Help keep parents, board of directors, and congregation informed.
  7. Write a monthly update for our newsletter.
  8. Make sure that classroom environments are maintained.
  9. Make sure that attendance, work logs, and other records are kept.
  10. See that our safety policy is adhered to.
Work Environment:
  1. Other than Sunday mornings, work hours are extremely flexible. Is required to attend the annual retreat, annual meeting and may be asked to attend relevant town hall meetings.
  2. Salary in line with UUA fair wage guidelines commensurate with experience
  3. Two weeks paid vacation, June and July off, and regular Sundays off.
  4. Opportunities for networking and support via Liberal REligious Educators Association (LREDA) and the UUA Southern Cluster of the Midamerica Region.
  5. Professional development allowance.
  6. Supported by a Religious Exploration Committee, the congregation and the the board of directors.
  7. Accountable to the Board of Directors, and the congregation. Supervised by the minister
  8. An evaluation after six months and at least yearly thereafter.
Ideal Employee Profile:
  1. Has a background in religious studies and/or education.
  2. Familiar with Unitarian Universalism
  3. They must possess and model an openness to learning about and considering new ideas.
  4. Will covenant to support and promote the Constancy of Purpose of UUCCHC, its mission and the mission of the REC
  5. Familiarity with or willingness to learn google drive.
  6. Flexible, fun and peaceful demeanor
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
