mshs1-420x315Our youth begin the service upstairs with family and friends. They can often be found in front of the church leading the service, performing music, or leading the Message for All Ages. They are a vital part of our congregation as they learn what it is like to become a member of a church community. Youth may sign the book to become an official member at age 14.

Once downstairs, our youth engage in discussions and/or projects based on our church-wide monthly themes. Our dedicated facilitators for the 2015-2016 school year are Mike Hartley, Annie Johnson, Lynn Jettspace, Adam Bowman, Erin Kimble, Amanda Brizendine, Dan Schnake, Beth McJones and Natalie Mickelsen.

mshs2-420x560Our curriculum for the 2015-2016 school year is based on the scope and sequence provided by the UUA and will utilize session plans from the UUA’s Tapestry of Faith curriculum as well as a variety of secondary resources.
In addition to weekly RE, the Mid-America Region and Heartland District of the UUA host a variety of opportunities for both junior high and senior high students to attend events with their peers.
