There are always many opportunities to help out at UUCC!

Christmas Day DinnerFamily Promise

Our second week is coming up June 21-28.

Please be thinking of how you can help us welcome these overwhelmed homeless young families. We will once again need people to help with meals, activities, and especially with overnight hosting duties. Please contact Anne Burget at or 317-432-3530 if you are interested in helping out.

Religious Exploration

Our RE Program relies on enthusiastic volunteers. For more information, contact our DRE, Sarah Montimy or the chair of the Religious Exploration Committee, Erin Kimble.

Shared Blessings Food Pantry Needs Volunteer Help

Our congregation supports Shared Blessings Food Pantry by collecting food every Sunday. This is, however, only one of several ways that we are involved in providing this needed service to our larger community. Some of our members also volunteer at the pantry on Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings during the time when clients come in to “shop”. In addition, volunteers from our congregation pick-up donated food “spoilage” from GFS on Monday and Thursday mornings and deliver it to the pantry. Several times as a religious organization we have applied and procured $1000 of dry goods for the pantry from the Mormon church.

We are always in need of drivers to pick up from GFS on Monday and Tuesday mornings. We also need substitutes in case someone cannot pick-up on their scheduled date.

In addition, Shared Blessings Food Pantry is trying to recruit 6 volunteers to process donations from Walmart on Monday and Friday mornings.  If you can volunteer about 1 – 2 hours in the late morning on either of these days, your help would be greatly appreciated.

To volunteer for any of these opportunities, contact Sherry Zerbe, 317-718-7249

Lion’s Den…Help and Desserts

UUCC cooks at The Lion’s Den every time there’s a 5th Wednesday in a month. We’ll prep the last Tuesday of the month, from 4-6:30 p.m., then cook and serve the last Wednesday, from 8a.m. to 2 p.m..

If you’re interested in helping cook or serve, please contact Brenda Sutton at or call her at 317 258-1182.

We always need desserts on the day of service, and we’re oh so grateful for the folks who come to prep, cook, and serve.

Stewardship Committee

UUCC does so many important things in our community, including the LGBT Rally on the Square, the annual Christmas Day Dinner, Family Promise, and so much more. But if we do not care for our own own foundation, we cannot continue to build on this amazing tradition of love and service.

That means now is the time to start thinking about our operational fund drive, which will take place from mid-August until mid-September. This is a very important year – we need to restore levels of savings that have been depleted while we took leaps of faith in our ministry and building, and we need to seriously look at the support services necessary so our minister, CRE, and volunteers can spend their time on what is most important and not what is most paperwork-intensive.

We can always use help – this year we are looking for a couple of new and energetic voices to serve on the Stewardship Committee to plan a fun and successful pledge season. In particular, we’d like someone with brochure design skills who can freshen up the look of our drive literature and make it particularly eye-catching (and compelling!)

Please contact Bill Sutton ( or 317.745.4293) to put in your name.

We’ll be throwing out little messages here and there through the summer months until the official start of the pledge drive. Keep your eyes open and see what you can learn!
